The Simpsonville community is mourning the tragic death of Jordan Elijah Rouse, a 21-year-old man who was fatally shot Friday evening in an incident that is now being investigated as a homicide by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m. on Friday after the Greenville County Communications Center received multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Gorman Place in Simpsonville. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered Rouse lying in the roadway with at least one gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and attempted to render aid, but Rouse’s injuries proved fatal. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Jordan Elijah Rouse, 21, of Simpsonville. Chief Deputy Coroner Shelton England confirmed that Rouse was officially pronounced dead at 8:07 p.m.
Authorities said preliminary findings indicate Rouse died from a gunshot wound, and the manner of death has been ruled homicide. An autopsy was scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators spent several hours processing the crime scene on Friday night, collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Detectives are also reviewing any available surveillance footage and other evidence that may help determine what led to the deadly shooting.
